ITALIAN death metal quartet HOUR OF PENANCE head up the latest additions to DEATHFEST -The Second Coming.

They'll be joined on the Terrorizer Stage by London's INFESTATION while doom titans RAMESSES and the crushing sludge of PALEHORSE will lower the tone of the PHD Stage.

Brujeria, Immolation, Fukpig, Dawn of Chaos and Volition are already confirmed for the two-stage event which will be hosted at Leeds University Union, on Bank Holiday Sunday, May 2.

Festival director Gavin McInally, said: "Hundreds of tickets have already gone and we're delighted to be able to repay that early support by adding another four top quality extreme metal acts.

"As promised, Deathfest - The Second Coming, will have a stunning bill of death metal on our Terrorizer Stage with the PHD Stage offering an alternative of filthy sludge, doom and unsavoury noise.

"With several slots still to be filled, fans can look forward to an unrivalled day of extreme music in the UK this May!"

Tickets are on sale now priced at £19.50 from http://www.leedstickets.com/ , http://www.ticketline.co.uk/ and http://www.seetickets.co.uk/

Missed Ramesses at Damnation a couple of years ago so will be good to see them. Haven't heard of the other 2 non-death acts.

And Hour of Penance is ok and all, but can we please have an old school band or 2 to contrast all the tech death that seems to be booked for festivals like this?

HOLY FUCKING SHIT PALEHORSE

i mean god fucking damnit seriously i'm about to lose more money ordering a ticket, hotel room and train ticket. or at least some point. thanks a lot guys Evil or Very Mad

i dunno why but everytime i'd listen to them i'd get this feeling that maybe this is the year they do damnation, i dont know enough about deathfest too wonder if they'd do that but fuck, it's done

i was considering going just for the banter, but now i'm over the edge. lets do this.

edit: all grammar is out the window at this excitement.

I guess they kind of are. I do like Immolation, but i don't really get the same feel listening to that ilk of DM bands (Immolation, Suffocation, Obituary, Deicide) as i do bands such as Nunslaughter, Sadistic Intent, Sathanas, Possessed, early Morbid Angel, Necrophagia, Insanity, etc. Basically i like evil, obscure shit that no-ones ever heard of and has no chance of being booked Laughing Wink

judging from the amount of fans they have on here, the scottish band Bonesaw who play in that style have a very good chance of turning up for either deathfest or damnation this year. realisticially Necrophagia or Posessed are the only bands in your list (not including morbid angel) who it would be worth the damnation crew paying to bring over from the states unless any of those other bands happened to be touring the uk at the same time.

for example I'd love to see Jex Thoth play a damnation event, but being they don't have that many fans it wouldn't be worth it in the cost of bringing them to the uk (which is many times the cost of booking them itself) in terms of the amount of fans it would attract

I can't wait to see Palehorse tear through a stage.

Eyes of Sound fired out a package of goodies a while back and from the second I heard the album, it was only a matter of time before they showed up on one of Bri's posters.

Ramesses were jaw dropping at Damnation a couple of years back but I never got the chance to hang around for their set, so I hope to see a bit more this time around.

But yeah, bill is shaping up well and we still have a few more to include so it'll be one hell of a day.

Very Happy

Is there going to be a concerted effort to book more doom/ death doom for this year then?

For the PHD Stage, yes?

More doom, sludge, grind, black... Anything still extreme to suit the bill but different enough from death to keep things fresh throughout the day.
